About Us

Aim

The objective of the Law and Technology Society is to explore the boundless contours of the intriguing interface between law and technology. The Society aims to build up-to-date scholarship in the field by organizing various interesting events.

Our Work

The Society, formerly known as ‘Computers and Law’, was founded by Mr. Pramod Rao. Earlier, there were only a handful of student-run, tech-law committees. In 2000, the committee started ‘Consilience’- an annual conference to discuss contemporary legal issues concerning technology. Since then, we have hosted events with dignitaries such as Antony Taubman, Carl Malamud, Stephan Hobe, etc. We have also worked closely with various GOI entities such as the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, etc. In 2005, the Society started an annual journal called the ‘Indian Journal of Law and Technology’ (IJLT), which is India’s first peer review journal in this field.
